Frequently asked questions

On the fence?

Got questions about my audio engineering services? Here are the answers to some of the most common questions I get from artists and bands.

How do you approach mixing a song or project?

Everyone has a unique sound, so I always ask for reference tracks to understand the vibe you’re going for. I’ll also listen to your prior releases to get a feel for your style. My workflow is typically top-down, starting at the 2-bus and working in reverse. I use templates to keep things efficient and consistent.

What genres or styles do you specialize in?

I specialize in pop rock, pop punk, indie, folk, and country.

What’s the difference between mixing and mastering?

Mastering is the final step in the process, polishing the mix and ensuring it's optimized for streaming platforms or CD releases.

Can I sit in on the session, or is everything done remotely?

If you're in the Milwaukee area, you're welcome to attend the mixing session, but I discourage being present during the editing process.

What do I need to provide before starting the project?

For remote work, please provide stems, project details (tempo, key, MIDI, notes), and reference tracks.

How long does it take to complete a mix?

A mix typically takes 1–2 days, but the timeline can extend depending on revisions.

Do you offer revisions if I want changes to the mix?

Yes, all services include free revisions up to a certain limit.

What’s your pricing structure for singles versus albums?

You can find detailed pricing information on my service pages.

Can you work with tracks recorded in a home studio?

Absolutely! While professional studios are great, I can work with home studio tracks. Just ensure you get clean, noise-free takes. For drum recordings, I may use samples if the recordings aren’t up to par.
